As I pondered my next phone upgrade, I found myself torn between loyalty to Apple and the allure of Android devices. My trusty iPhone 12 has been a faithful companion, with its impressive accessibility features that Apple is renowned for. However, the Google Pixel series had caught my attention, and I was tempted to explore the Android universe.
But Apple had other plans. The iPhone 14 Plus had initially caught my eye, but just as I was about to make a decision, the iPhone 16E burst onto the scene. With its budget-friendly price tag and features mirroring those of the flagship iPhone 16, it seemed like an attractive option. A friend's sage advice sealed the deal – the iPhone 16E offered the perfect blend of affordability and functionality, with a screen size identical to my current phone.
Or so I thought. Apple's decision to ditch the beloved Ring Switch, replaced by an Action Button, left me feeling somewhat deflated. While I appreciate the iPhone 16E's features, I'm still grappling with the loss of that trusty switch. The Action Button, which can only be assigned one function, will inevitably become my new silent/ringer toggle.
But, as fate would have it, my phone upgrade plans have been put on the backburner. My wife's need for a new washing machine has taken precedence – after all, wife before phone is a tough call, but not really!
